Artist's Description

A small black and white striped jumper common in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, in Sydney’s north on the Hawkesbury inlet at Cowan Creek, also north to at least Newcastle and south to Eden. Males have long, fringed legs III typical of Saitis, a central band of white lengthways on the carapace, reddish-orange on the face around the eyes and a cream to orange yellow-moustache. The species name virgatus is Latin for striped. ♀ 6mm ♂ 5mm
