The Beauty of Regret

The beauty of regret
- while we’d all prefer to forget,
is learning who we are and want to be.
We can bow to pass mistakes
long for better breaks,
but in the process a better “us” can be achieved.

Sometimes when “it” ends
and the pain is too intense
we seek to get back the hope we held before regrets were made.
But let it be said
hope is not dead
and a moment at regret’s feet is not our resting place.

Let us lift our eyes from sorrow
knowing there will come another tomorrow
where yesterday need no longer have a voice.
Let us kiss goodbye regret
knowing there are better chances yet
and looking forward really is our choice.

Let us take those tossed stones
- the ones regret has thrown
and use them to help us climb to higher ground.
Let the voice and pointed finger
no longer haunt, nor linger
rather, let us rejoice over the wisdom we have found!
