Artist's Description

Winter snow on the Crosscut Saw, Alpine National Park, Victoria, Australia.

The Crosscut Saw is one of the most spectacular ridge lines in the Australian Alps. It is about three kilometres long and right on the very crest of The Great Dividing Range, with spectacular views in all directions. Rain that falls on its eastern slopes feeds rivers that end up in Bass Strait off the Victorian coast, and rain that falls on its western slopes feeds rivers that end up at the mouth of the Murray River in South Australia.

Getting to this part of the world in winter is not easy. Generally it’s a minimum of three days return on skis and foot.
