Artist's Description

Shot at the end of a long days tour round the road to Hana, Jacob and Sharon Mau took us on a fabulas tour of the island taking us to many places off the beaten track, this is the remains of a remote catholic church on the Piilani highway near Kipahula, build between sometime1880-1889 .

Had to work real fast with this as the light was dying, love the composition on this, the area was quite stark, managed to line up this palm with the flow of the clouds giving it the effect of a flaming torch, nicely framing the last glow of light, makes the image very spiritual, Jacob told stories of the family and his time here as a child, he had me fascinated with his stories of the old days hunting turtles off the cliffs, fantastic day.

This was shot on a Nikon D700, with 17-35mm Nikkor lens, cokin z-pro filter system, ND8 and 2 + warming filter, 5 exposures processed in photo matrix.
