When I lived in Virginia I often went to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for summer beach vacations. For me, “sea oats” are the central image of the beach. Their long root structure firmly holds loose sand dunes and they wave happily in the salt breeze. I have photographed many of them, but this image is the best. While driving to dinner in Nags Head NC one evening, the setting sun was perfectly reflected off a small group of dunes. I made the driver of the car stop, I hopped out and you see the results here.
