A Little Bit About Me: Someone Affectionately Known as KP

I am a lawyer by training and trade though I grew up with a somewhat hidden and untapped itch to be creative and artsy. My drawings haven’t progressed much beyond kindergarten/finger painting level, which has always bothered me because my father and uncles are designers. I have though, demonstrated some glimpses of my creativity in the past, for example, some funny spoof videos of friends (http://youtube.com/watch?v=WYTaqs7nwMQ).

My internal struggle is to free myself from living life within the boundaries of reason. Or at least, to find a balance between the instinctive and the logical.

So far, I have approached my photography in the same way as I have to in most areas of my life (eg. in my line of work), which I think is necessary as an inexperienced photographer. Although I have received mostly positive feedback on my work so far, comments such as, and the realisation that I mostly produce, ‘postcard’ images has inspired me to pursue this interest further and go beyond good postcard photos. I want to share others’ belief that I have a good ‘eye’.

My Photography v 2.0

I’ve graduated from handling a P&S to an SLR for almost a year now. / Boys being boys, I was at first, focussing too much time and energy on the technical aspects of cameras and equipment. I’m not an arty person by nature so it was in some ways like learning a fundamental skill from scratch as a relatively ‘old dog’. / My love of photography is not about getting right …

What Price is Right

Although just a hobby for me, it would also be nice to get some ‘objective’ feedback for my photos by way of a sale or two. I think that’s the best way to tell whether or not my photos are actually decent. / I wonder however, what ‘mark up’ is appropriate? If nobody’s buying my photos, maybe they’re too expensive relative to their quality?
