As I stand on this stairway to burden
waiting for my time to be judged
i reflect upon the life i had
and the cruel acts that filled it

i was your sword
i was your shield
i was your wall
and i was your will

so then why am I considered evil?
with all ive said and done
now there’s nothing left inside
only the waiting for this terminal line

i swore to serve you
but if only i had known then
what i certainly know now
that you would betray me, and all of my kind

hence the closing of the curtains
that fall around our minds
lost to me you are
and i will never know you again

maybe this is what you had in mind
decades spent in strife
lonely and alone
with these wings you make me wear

fate is so unkind
like the puppet master you turned out to be
I am resplendent in the burden
cast upon me from your hand

this blood shines like gold
and i now see what it means
i was your angel of death
and i guess after all of this

you turned out to be mine
