Enough is enough..

For 2 years I have been umming and ahhing about going overseas for a holiday. My last venture was in 2003 when I eloped and got married in Fiji!

So I am going to bite the bullet and postpone the purchase of a Canon 40D (the 20D is still giving me shots I am happy with!) and Andrew and I are heading to Thailand for 10 days in October (the end of their wet season).

We are flying into Bangkok for a few days and then on to Phuket followed by the Phi Phi Islands. To say I’m excited would be the understatement of the year.

As most know, I am totally addicted to travel, and was actually planning on a driving holiday of SA but for the price I can get us overseas and immersed in another culture. I follow a lot of Buddhist principles in my life so it will also give me the opportunity for a bit of a spiritual journey as well.
It has been Andrew’s life dream to visit Phi Phi and after the devastating tsunami we thought even more about going, so as to bring back some tourist dollars to the locals. My dream has been to visit the Tiger Temple and visit the Buddhist Monks who raise Tigers and allow tourists to get up close and personal!! I will actually get to do this!!

I’d like to hear from anyone who has been to Bangkok/Phuket/Phi Phi for photo opportunities and perhaps a few travel tips with regards to those areas. We are also tossing up the idea of a quick jaunt from Bangkok over to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam too. Advice on photograpy there would also be appreciated.

Now I just have to count down the sleeps.. (280 odd to be precise)..
