Genesis

Eyes closed;
Palms over lids.
There is a blackness so immense
I know this is the black from which the world was born.
My hands are cool, and press dimples into the nascent world
To create oceans;
I press harder on my eyes to fill them with salty tears.
I take my hands away,
But I am still blind.
I feel my way around the earth, moulding mountains
Between my fingers.
I gather clumps in my hands and throw them
As far as I can…
Mercury Mars Pluto…
I light the skies with stars…
One for every life there will ever be.
And warm my imagining with the sun;
Sustaining what I have done, so I can let the
Darkness fall
And replace my hands

Over my eyes.
