Edited version of a photo by Gaz (with Sony Cybershot 4.1). I am in one of the boats.
It is a ceremony held at the end of the DragonsAbreast Dragonboat Races that were held as part of Chinese New Year at Darling Harbour, 2008.
The ceremony, with breast cancer survivors in the boats, includes a minute silence and reflects on those who have died of breast cancer. It was particularly poingant for me as my best friend from school had been in hospital during the previous ceremony and had since died.
Women who become involved in Dragonsabreast are challenging themselves to gain fitness, friends and live life to the fullest whilst acknowledging those who have lost the fight and increasing awareness to decrease how hard some women have to fight. It is one of the more than 50 ways to help fight breast cancer.
