Artist's Description

I started feeding spring lambs at an early age. We always had a few to feed and since my mother refused to eat mutton, I don’t know where they went. When I had a 4-H lamb in later years, the sheep man took him back to become the “bell-wether” for his herd. Truls was a friendly, tame boy who came when his name was called. The rest of the herd followed him in every night. I had sold him at the 4-H sale, but when they tried to take him away, he just layed down. They thought he was sick and refused him. It was one of the little games he played if you didn’t have a handful of oats to get him to move.
