Artist's Description

Red Trillium (also known as Purple Trillium, Stinking Benjamin, Wake-robin and Beth Root) is native to eastern and north-eastern North America. It blooms in mid-spring and grows in open woodlands. Red Trillium is listed as endangered, exploitably vulnerable and threatened in Illinois, New York and Rhode Island respectively according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). However, it is under no such list in New Brunswick and is wide spread in the southern region of the province.
