Artist's Description

Maltese Cross (also called Burning Love and Jerusalem Cross to name just 2 of its many common names) is native to Russia, Mongolia and western China. It was introduced to North America sometime during the days of colonies and pioneers. It has naturalized and become a common wildflower in some parts of the continent. However, Maltese Cross is very uncommon in southern New Brunswick. This is the first time I have ever come across it in the wild. It was growing at the bottom of a steep and wide ditch on the side of a rural road. Wickham, New Brunswick, Canada. Captured on a Canon EOS Rebel T3i with an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens.
