Artist's Description

The title is no joke . . . the entrance to Pier Cove Sanctuary has posted a sign to keep people out. The creek running through it which empties into Lake Michigan (USA) once supported a gris mill and tannery at the turn of the century, but has become an over grown and eroded habitat. The access paths around the creek has even eroded more since one year ago and is impassable in places while the creek continues to cut deeper into the ravine. Most evident of the erosion are the fallen trees straddling the creek. Nevertheless, I can’t resist going in even if for a short distance.

I started with a photograph taken when a mist rolled in off Lake Michigan , converted it to black and white then added color layers to create an artful expression.
