Kathleen Carrier has been an Artist/Illustrator her entire life. She is based in Illinois. After taking 20 years off to be mom to four children, with the dream never fading Carrier, studied at the Chicago Art Institute. It was time for her to be authentic to herself. While at the Institute her studies revolved around her passion for the school and its people.
Her work takes on as many styles as her life. From her erotic edge, to the style she shows when she captures souls on paper. You can find her work in many private collections, shows in her city and around the country. All the while staying involved in her community, teaching figure drawing as well as The Huskies on Parade, a public art project.

Awards in illustration, from the Ben Gordon Foundation.
Taking first place in drawing, at the Southeast Erotic Cultural competition, in Jacksonville, FL.
A gallery show at the Cornerstone Gallery in upscale Blue Island, IL.

Her style explores the thoughts and feelings of the people through her attentive listening skill as well as hands on experiences. Figurative works express the layers of human experience while her illustrative style traverses the realms of dark fantasy. Carrier is an Artist who likes to color outside the lines.

Artist Statement

We all start with the same pattern in our faces that of a wide-eyed child looking at the world in total wonderment. Our experiences, the fears and fantasies of our lives, as they unfold, place the distinctive lines in each of our faces’ want to read the story of those lines. Finding their origin is the fascination which drives me to pick up a pencil. It’s the tool which connects mind to paper. At the heart of any medium, that I choose is the form that emerges.

My work lies between reality and the mind. I intend to create images of the people I meet and interact with, the stories I have heard and the thoughts and images these encounters have created in my mind. Reaching for the sublime in the images I create, tenacious to enjoy the journey to express my passion on paper. For me to be able to communicate, simply, or profoundly, across time and space, finding a person, who connects with my work one on one, is truly a dream twisted to reality.
