Artist's Description

From my series World from Above series a shot taken over Arizona: The river and its tributories seems to have left their scars in the desert landscape as it wound its way to or from that tiny water hole.

Fascinating to view the different colours of the sand or soil. I’m not sure if these are areas that are more or less arid or if it is due to iron or such in the sand. The dark dots are cacti or similar desert plants.

Captured at around 9,000 ft from a Cessna on an air tour from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon.

Nikon D70, Sigma 18-200mm F/3,5-6,3G
46 mm, F/13, 1/250s, ISO 200
Aperture Priority, Exposure Comp.: -0,3EV, Minimal post-pro in CS2.
Post-pro in Adobe CC with NikColorEfex.

Featured in North American Natural Landscapes, From the Cockpit, Superbly Visual and Arizona
