Artist's Description

My finished painting on the right, I painted this from a photograph I took which I cropped to highlight the frangipani’s petal with a raindrop dripping from it underneath. It’s a legitimate raindrop, not waterspray, it had just stopped raining. I took the photo in the front garden of my son’s tutor, where it seems unusually late, for these sweet flowers to still be blooming, considering we are well into Autumn here in Australia. I was truly fascinated by these beautiful fresh flowers and I am so happy I was able to paint the photo as well. This isn’t something I do regularly, and it’s a bit of a surprise to me, that I was able to do it. I painted this by hand, with my stylus pen (like a paintbrush/pencil) using the Procreate app on my iPad while sitting on my bed sipping cups of tea. A most enjoyable process, and I look forward to trying to create more art along these lines. It’s a challenge and deeply fulfilling. Just to clear one thing up, every brush stroke is my own, all the blending is my own, I didn’t overlay the photo and trace over it, I wanted to challenge myself and wouldn’t be happy if I had done so. I am rather surprised, excited and even thrilled, by the end result and I hope you like it

For anyone who might be interested in my art process, here is a short video that shows the progression of my most recent painting “Rain on Frangipani Petal”. My photo of the frangipani appears on the left while my painting appears to the right hand side (painted using a stylus/pen/brush on my iPad in Procreate)

You can see some of the stages of this work in progress in the image below. Thanks so much for checking out my art. To see more of my art, please check out my redbubble art portfolio and print shop here:
