Misconceptions....

I have seen quite a bit of work on here lately that has spurred me to write this. I see certain works being displayed which will/should stir up controversy; a good debate is certainly good for our minds…shake up our own prejudices and thoughts. Is it so crazy to think, hmmm…maybe I’m wrong, maybe I should be more open minded and just allow what someone else has to say settle inside myself without jumping to a defense…which to me just smells like fear. Fear of being ‘wrong’, fear of being ‘judged’, fear of being ‘stupid’. Nobody likes to feel those things, and with that being said, should we really be stooping to that level on here? Aren’t we all adults here on RedBubble? I can’t help but feel like the people who start calling names and calling other people ‘stupid’, ‘idiots’ and etc…just see the world still to this day as the playground they probably once used to rule when they were kids. And by rule, I mean by being “the big bad bully”!

When we try to teach others our story…we can’t force feed it to anyone. I personally know people who hate gays, but have never befriended someone who is gay…I personally know people who don’t like African Americans, but have never befriended someone who is black. Are their prejudices justified? Hell NO…but am I going to change that by calling them ‘stupid’, idiot’, ‘moron’..etc, etc…? I really don’t think so. I’ve seen many people on here say…‘sex sells’…and that is true. But ya know what I think? ‘LOVE SELLS’!!!!! We can’t teach someone to love others through negativity. It just won’t happen. Gay, straight, black, white…whatever and however one defines themselves…you aren’t going to be liked if you aren’t likeable. If you want to make a difference you need to start with yourself FIRST! I for one…no matter if I agree with your cause, thoughts, opinions whatever; will no want to listen if the only place you’re speaking from is arrogance. “Feelings” of any kinds can’t be labeled as right or wrong…they are feelings, they are yours and no one can tell you they aren’t justified, or they aren’t correct. They are personal…and we don’t know why a person feels the way they do unless we care enough to listen and let their stories be heard!!!!

Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
