Our Planet

Solid blue fades to wisps of white. Melding into rough hues of blue and green below. A landscape unavoidable to the eye.

A solitary outline circles the world below, feathers twitching deliberately against warm thermals. Keen eyes scour the ground in search of fatal opportunity. Life for life.

Movement. Smooth adjustments to a plummet from the sky; light reflecting off watery depths; darting gray shapes, unaware. A splash. Prey eluding predator.

The scaly underbelly of half the planet. Bulging eyes and pursed lips, the push and pull of the moons influence. A civilization unto itself.

Trapped. Vines, crossed and spaced in ways that make escape impossible. Lifted towards the surface of air and light. Crushed between the bodies of others; the same but different.

Rough hands, rushing forms. Advanced communication spreads across the earth, the inner conflict of the world. Destroyers and protectors.

Content. A rumble of pleasurable domestication, free from confines. Utter confidence, every action purposeful, planned. Dependent but free.

Claws dig into tough bark, climbing swiftly higher. Sharp ears pinpointing each break through wood and paper. Tremors to the residents hidden inside.

Uncertainty. Scurrying through the darkness of confinement. Loyalty, obedience, teamwork. Thousands upon thousands of lives, so easily crushed, were they noticed. The first building blocks.

Humidity; droplets sinking over lush greenery, gravity ever pulling downwards. Bright spots penetrating thick shady barriers. Sound echoing across every distance. A life of life.

Nerves. Head jerking, blending scales over tiny head, body, limbs. Spurts of speed toward safer destinations. Ever alert; aware; afraid. Miniature imprints over dirt, foliage… sand.

Sun beating down on open plains. Stretching. Unyielding. Few signs of life permeate this barren expanse. Harsh conditions and uncompromising lifestyles. Survival of the fittest.

Flexibility. Large ears, pointed nose; white or brown or red fur covering small canine bodies. Hunter and hunted. Spanning continents, environments; a pest to most. The chameleon of mammals.

Bitter winds. An eerie calm; descending, surrounding. Still water, covering underwater truths of freezing realms. Beyond reach.

Fearless. An abominable snowman of reality. Giant paws, curious nature. A search for food; bloody or useless. Claws digging into icecaps, pushing through water, trapping flesh. Uncontrollable control.

Earthly tones, mixing and merging over thriving land and solid mass, crashing waves and clear streams, parched sand or icy caps. Stormy sky’s or dreamy blue. A precious ecosystem.
