KAKAU means clothes in Cook Island Maori It's also my Grandmother alias, Ngametua Kakepare, known as Auntie Kakau, Atiu, Enua Manu (Island of Birds) So this label will keep going to keep her memory alive. I basically made these designs for me and a few close relatives, I just wanted to create something for us, all of us that have experienced Cook Island culture.
