Artist's Description

Taratara is a sacred mountain overlooking Whangaroa Harbour, Far North New Zealand (Aotearoa). It has a distinctive outline, and when seen from certain angles looks like a table mountain, but this work depicts it as viewed from its more narrow profile, as seen when approaching it on the main road from the north. It is clearly visible from the main road, and also visible all the wqay up the main waterway of Whangaroa Harbour.

Acrylic on canvas board 36 × 24in . Exhibited 1980 Bay of Islands Art Society Exhibition – Paihia NZ. Sold to a collector in Ashburton NZ.
