Artist's Description

“…For I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.” (2 Timothy 1:12)

There are two potential translations of this passage. One is the version in KJV and NIV used here, and there is another one out there which reads, “…and I am convinced that He is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me.” Essentially, they both convey the same concept. For what it is worth, the two Greek words involved translate as “my deposit” and I feel the KJV and NIV translation is the more likely from the wording of the Greek.

Paul was in his last days, imprisoned in Rome and awaiting a second interview with Nero, which he knew would result in his execution. He was writing a second letter of encouragement to Timothy, who was in charge of the church at Ephesus, and in this passage explaining to Timothy the faith and trust that kept him going through all his persecutions and discomforts – his conviction that the Lord is faithful.
