Artist's Description

The painting at the center of this artwork is actually a diptych, and I have amalgamated the 2 pictures for this purpose. I got the idea last night and it wouldn’t leave me alone, so I went ahead and created the poster image. The work illustrates one of the identities of Jesus: The Lion of Judah:

“But one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.’” (Revelation 5:5)

This passage indicates that by the work He did during His time on earth, and in particular on the cross, Jesus qualified himself to set in motion the seven apocalyptic events that will be precursors to His second coming at the end of the age.

Painting : a diptych in acrylic on canvas. The portrait of Jesus is not derived from any existing artwork or photograph.
