Artist's Description

How the eagle defeats the snake in battle – by lifting it up into the air, and letting its body hang loose. The snake loses all the force and power in its body, and can no longer fight effectively. How often have we seen the Lord likened to an eagle?

Photograph of an ancient Greek coin replica made by me and cast in epoxy resin.
Silver coin of Olympia, Eagle and Snake, struck about 480 BC. There are others of similar design, also struck in Olympia. Obviously, the Greeks had many times watched the efficiency with which eagles defeated snakes in battle using this strategy.
