Artist's Description

Saul of Tarsus had been imprisoning and killing Christians in Jerusalem. He was on his way to Damascus with a commission from the Sanhedrin to lay waste the Christian church in the north.

And so it came about that the greatest persecutor of the early Christian movement became the key figure in bringing Christianity to non-Jews. That journey along the road to Damascus changed world history.

“And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shone round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and he heard a voice saying, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’” Acts 9 : 3.
