Artist's Description

This is a male Darter, commonly known as a Snake Bird because of its very long neck and the way it moves in the water. Because they don’t have oil on their feathers, they are often seen with their wings spread out to dry. These guys inhabit the inland of Oz and are often mistaken as Shags. Shags are coastal, salt-water birds that don’t venture too far away from the ocean. The female Darter, as is usual in the bird world, ia a dull looking chick. The sky is reflected here in its beautiful blue which does not show the water in its true colour, a dirty latte brown.
