A Too Familiar First Encounter

Hypnotized by the men in the pinstripes
and rubbing elbows as if I once shared a joke
with a mid-night shined woman in a wide brimmed hat.
This dried submarine sunk into darkness,
an urban city ocean and fish, spotting one another thru swaying seaweed people,
as if to say ‘’deception lies in the oceans tides as it masks reality, it’s not him in actuality’’.
What a subconscious mistake, breathe a sigh of relief, but the story twists,
Three times a charm on her wrist.
Could it be? An ironic choice of ‘friendship heights’ or a coffin of neon lights
full of cheap perfume, sweat and washed out office slaves trying too hard with a classy facade.
He or she? The other blames for choosing the latter.
Leave or stay, fly or surrender in his overdone and tightly weaved web.
No, no it’s always the latter.
Fumes of curiosity regret fill the air, igniting feelings of awkward, silent despair.
Cold eyes make an icicle fence marking the boundaries you cannot cross.
Why the latter? Re-meeting an acquaintance of another life.
That bee on a flower, painters admire and stay in denial of the eventual sting.
Back away slow, no sudden movements, like a smile,
exchanged between two lovers on bicycles, under a canopied road.
The sun above shot beams of sunlight to warm their soft skin.
Others watched and admire. Oh desire, a blazing fire.
The closer you get, it burns I bet.
So much to say yet nothing at all
shattered pieces of a porcelain doll.
She, the fly caught by you, the spider
the bee disturbed the delicate flower.
My beautiful sister is face to face, with her careless stranger,
in this too familiar first encounter.
