Poets of love

Poets of Love:
Stop, stop, stop!

Yes, we all know that your love is new,
or that your love maybe is true,
or someday is comin’ for you,
or surely now your turn is due.

We know that bad love leaves you blue,
or will break your heart in two,
until it will make you rue
the day this world you were born into.

We know some loves are really bad,
and will leave you lonely and feelin’ sad,
take your money and make you mad,
or go home to live with Mom and Dad.

Yes girls are like the stars at night,
they glow, and glisten, and delight,
and their lips are a beautiful sight,
and there’s lots more about them oh so right.

And we know that you either have a one true love
that truly defines the heavens above,
or is a louse and needs a shove,
‘cause he or she will never understand you, you sweet, sweet dove.

Enough!

Poems don’t have to be about ambiguous love.
You could write about a worm or a worn-out glove.
Or about the coo of a mourning dove,
Or how a crow crosses the sky above.

Poets of love, about the love desist!
Save your words for the one you’ve kissed (or wished you did).
Think of the ten billion words never missed
And the strength you’ll build when you resist (oh I hope so).
