Green anole (Anolis carolinensis).

This is a photograph of two male green anoles battling each other for the property rights of the garden hose in our backyard. Male anoles like to find prime locations to dance, bob, expand their dewlaps, and try to attract the females. It’s all about good lovin. But, when more than one anole wants the same spot… battle ensues. Kind of like American college dudes.

These two went at each other for about five minutes. Eventually the lizard on the bottom won. He flung the top lizard off (who then moved over to the grill and took what I consider to have been a much better spot to begin with). Unfortunately, no females were anywhere around. Again, kind of like American college dudes. Reminds me of Florida State University…
