The Piper's Tune

When I was but a small boy
And troubles spewed overwhelmingly
My grandmother would tell me stories
While listening to the Piper’s tunes
She told me of the magic it gave
To soften the hearts of little boys
Whose troubles were in abundance
And griefs too strong to endure
She told me of all the grand chieftans
Of the great Scottish clans abroad
And how many of our ancestors
Endured the hardships of their times
Each gave way to the heros they bore
Whose mighty battles were won
Not by sword or axe of the soldiers
But by the loving sounds of the pipes
During most of my childhood
The stories made their way home
Until her passing in my teen years
Where I listened to the Pipers played their tunes
And I felt their soothing comforts
Rest mightily upon my heart
I finally understood their meaning
Which unto this day they continue to impart
The Golden riches of all of heaven
Which rest mightily in the Piper’s tunes
