Artist's Description

The leopard (Panthera pardus) caught the duiker(Sylvicapra gimmia) easily ,but grabbed it by the neck but did not kill it immediately as it was a small prey and less likely for other predators to take it away.Leopards usually strangle their prey immediately and then take it up a tree, but this did not happen here. The photography was extremely difficult asit mostly is in the wild as we were off road in thick bushes with grass twigs and branches always in the way.The leopard was moving ,our vehicle was moving it was not smooth riding,it was pich black and the only light to focus on was the trackers search light which was also moving.Ulusaba,Sabi Sands game reserve,South Africa canon 7d canon 70-200 f/2.8 lens canon exp 580 flash at 140mm f2.8 1/60s iso 1600
