My Disgrace

The world dies
At our every touch
Now we spend all our time
Trying to climb out of the hole we dug
Human civilization?
More like the harbingers of destruction
Laying waste to all around us
With our human corruption
There’s no malicious intent
With this paradoxical configuration
We may lend one hand to help
But the other wreaks havoc across the nations
Our system goes one step forward
And two steps back
We never get anything done
Because the ability to change is what we lack
To find our one true enemy
We not but look in the mirror
But no one can face themselves
Even when the end is near
Look around
Is this what we call humanity?
Everyone is mad
The very definition of insanity
What am I to do?
I am a part of this race
And so you see
This is my disgrace
