Artist's Description

The Tricorn Centre was a controversial building in Portsmouth, providing shopping, accommodation and parking. Designed by Owen Luder in the brutalist style of the 60’s, it opened with great appeal and was praised for its design and capabilities. Before long, and due to a few unfulfilled revamps, the complex fell out of public favour. Closed in 2002 and demolished in 2004 I explored it as it was never meant to be, in a state of abandonment and finally destruction. This image outlines the iconic shape of concrete car parks, stairwells and platforms the likes of which may never be seen again.
