Artist's Description

This is the old Trestle Railway bridge over the Mollison’s Creek. The size, span and the old timbers of this bridge make it an incredile sight.
The Mollison’s Creek Railway Bridge was erected in 1889 by the Victorian Railways as part of the Wandong-Heathcote-Bendigo Railway. The contractors were McDermott and Sons. The bridge comprises 26 trestles at approximately 3.5 metre centres. Each trestle is free-standing. The railway was closed in 1968 and the bridge is presently not used. This bridge serves as a reminder of the Wandong-Bendigo railway and is a notable example of timber trestle bridge construction.
