Artist's Description

This old farm house was built in the late 1800s by one of the Ottawa Valley “Logging Barons”, George Bryson. He built this on his farm in Mansfield, Quebec and.after his fortune was made, built 3 large stone houses for each of his children in the adjacent town of Fort Coulonge. All are still in use after major restoration work over the last couple of decades.
On the top of the roof you can see a type of porch where George used to go to make sure everyone was working in his fields.
