Artist's Description

This path was once trodden by the many pilgrims visiting Merevale Abbey in the Forest of Arden, one of the most important Cistercian abbeys in the Middle Ages.

Founded by Robert, Earl Ferrers, in 1148. It was dissolved during the reign of Henry VIII and fell into ruin.
