Storm

You hear it in the distance.
The rumble.
You see it over the mountain.
The light show.

Black daunting clouds roll in
As the heavens growl and grumble in the hot summer evening.
The dark sky is broken by a bright chain of white
Followed seconds later by what sounds like a strike, ten pins falling.
Raindrops as large as marbles drop from above
As the wind picks up speed.

Houses rattle in time with the booming sky.
Lights flicker simultaneously.
The eye of the storm is here.
All hell breaks loose for what seems like ages
But only a few minutes have passed.

A diminuendo and retard complete the score
As the fury terminates.

You hear it in the distance.
The rumble.
You see it over the mountain.
The light show.
