This painting is based on a photo my wife took when she was leaving San Diego Harbor in 2010 with a couple of friends on their way down to Mexico – I love boats but not sailing in them. She is a lot tougher than me at that sort of thing. The mist was just beginning to burn off which made for a great watercolor painting.
The size is 37cm x 27cm and it was painted on Arches Cold Press 300 gsm paper.
I love doing these misty atmospheric paintings as they really are suited to wet on wet watercolor techniques.
This painting will be posted on my PaintingWithWatercolors web site as a demonstration later this year.
