Artist's Description

Taken on the Deschutes River Central Oregon on a cold, windy, snowy, cloudy day with low water conditions. Just below the Big Eddy is a series of class #2 and #3 falls where probably more photos have been taken than any other location on the Deschutes River. An incredible amount of people float this stretch in the summer months.
What is an Eddy?In fluid dynamics, an eddy is the swirling of a fluid and the reverse current created when the fluid flows past an obstacle. The moving fluid creates a space devoid of downstream-flowing fluid on the downstream side of the object. Once entering the Eddy on a floating device you will continue in circles until forcing yourself out of the eddy.
