Maybe

She pushes through the throngs of people
rushing to make her train
rushing to see him.
She missed him this morning
only catching a glimpse
not seeing the eyes which
have captured her heart.
The dull ache of missing him
haunts her through the day.
Now she hurries to get the
glimpse she needs,
to soothe her hollow heart.
She holds her breath as
the train pulls into the station.
Not daring to hope he’ll be there
but heartbroken that he’s not.
Picturing his deep brown eyes
his heart shaped face.
Every detail is memorised.
The way he holds his pen
the slant of his smilng mouth.
She falls into the her seat, despondent
Accepting that he doesn’t know she is waiting for him
She has the images of him for the journey home.

Maybe tomorrow.
