Artist's Description

One more sleep to go – the countdown is almost over. Lots of blood sweat and tears have gone in to this exhibition and we would all love to see you there!

Opening night tomorrow night from 6pm @ Kerala
283 High Street, Northcote

Coming from a diverse range of backgrounds, the Melbourne Silver Mine was formed online through flickr.com by a group of like minded photographers, all with a keen interest in film based photography. Some of us had migrated from digital to film, while others had never shot any other way.

What started as a small subgroup sharing ideas on film developing, scanning, or the cameras themselves, soon became a hub of activity as we shared and discussed each other’s work, finding in film qualities which we did not see in the homogenous world of digital.

Unsensored07 represents the diversity of films, cameras and styles each of the twelve contributors brings into the mix. With the shared philosophy that shooting film in a digital age represents the vinyl in the mp3 world, the live gig in the lap-top album culture, or the cycle to work in peak hour traffic, Unsensored07 presents twenty-four works, each selected to highlight those qualities which may soon be unjustly consigned to the dustbin of history.
