Artist's Description

Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta Canada, was socked in with fog on a summer morning. Yet there was something very appealing about the artistic ways the logs had arranged themselves from the shoreline near me off into the misty distance. They seemed timeless and static, yet if you returned later in the day or even in only 30 minutes, they had slowly and inexorably moved on. Presumably the logs are dragged down the surrounding mountainsides when the summer’s melting snow brings both them and the famed glacial silt into the lake. The logs all seem to make their way into the logjam outlet at the north end of the lake. The Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks of Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho along with three provincial parks comprise a UNESCO World Heritage site.
