Artist's Description

Mixed Media Portrait and Typography Design by J. McCombie.
To my loyal and disappointed viewers and fellow art enthusiasts: I believe it is important to inform you of the reason why you are no longer able to find artwork pieces of certain subjects you are looking for on RedBubble and to inform you that each artist did not remove these pieces of their own accord.
That is why I have created this replacement piece for my pencil portrait entitled: “Whitney Houston in 1992”. The original piece was removed by Bravado International Group Merchandising Services Inc (“Bravado”), the licensee of Whitney Houston related intellectual property. Bravado represents various musical performers and claimed infringement of the performers’ publicity rights, trademarks and copyrights.
If you disagree with Bravado’s actions and wish to let them know, or for a complete list of musicians that you will no longer be able to find artwork of on RedBubble because Bravado represents them, please go to: http://www.bravado.com.
A CALL TO ACTION: If you have been unable to view the original piece of artwork you had intended, and have instead come upon this and say or do nothing, it will continue across the web and aside from not being able to purchase artwork of your favourite personality, you will no longer be able to search for or view it. As I am sure the individual people or groups that Bravado represents are not aware of what has happened here, please help get the message out about this issue to any of them (directly or by social media). The same goes for any other person you know who enjoys art. Artists, art lovers and fans of public personalities alike will thank you. PLEASE STAND UP WITH ME: stand up for artists on RedBubble, stand up for artists across the web, stand up for artists in general, stand up for fans of art, stand up for fans of celebrities, stand up for yourself! This time, showing support for the little guy doesn’t take anything out of your pocketbook … so please help us take a stand. THANK YOU!
At the base of this portrait you find the ghost of an anonymous face, singing behind a faded microphone. Those two images are stamped with the “no” symbol and the name of the person that was seen on the original piece of artwork is no longer encaptioned at the bottom of the piece nor carried over as its title.
The generic type of images symbolize how Bravado has taken the art out of the artwork.
