I received my first camera when I was seven years old. It was a gift from my parents and it accompanied me on school field trips, family vacations, and to my bedroom, where I took pictures of my stuffed animals. Before I knew it, I was hooked.

I love that photography lets me shine a tiny spotlight on things that might otherwise go unnoticed or unappreciated. Photography allows me tell stories, and in doing so, I can help preserve memories. I do my best to represent the true nature or feeling of a person, object, or place. That process of discovery is its own reward.

Since the birth of my daughter, I’ve fallen even more in love with photography and with photographing people, in particular. As I watch her grow, she reminds me of how quickly we change and how important it is to capture everything, even down to (and maybe especially!) the micro-expressions on a baby’s face.

When I’m not taking pictures, I can be found watching Lost with my husband and tickling my baby girl in Cary, North Carolina.
