The Agave cactus grows happily in the region of Mexico where I lived and worked. There are fields of them in places, farmed for use in the manufacturing of Tequila. From a distance, the blue green color of their stems, has the hillsides around the town of Tequila appear to be covered in water. This plant was growing in the garden of the house I rented, actual on the beach. Occasionally one of the local witches bruja, would knock on my door, wielding a rusty machete, slightly unnerving. She would be after a stem or two of the plant which is still used for various remedies.
