In 1972, Jill C. Smith attended her first college art class in Washington State under the instruction of watercolorist, Howard Hardy. She began a freelance art career in 1978 as a commercial artist for a national oil company. Since then she has traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe. In 1984, she received an Official Commendation Award from the Department of the Army for painting professional architectural renderings of several buildings on McGraw Kasern, Munich. Germany.Returning to the states she began to explore different art mediums. As a multi-talented artist, Ms. Smith won several awards in ceramics, photography and oil on canvas. She designed and painted comprehensive murals for two area churches. She continues to paint favorite pets in oil as commissioned and currently restores heirloom photographs with computer programs.She hopes her work will reflect her love for God’s creation and her deep appreciation for the talents He has given her.She is happily married to her best friend and co-artist, has four talented children and three wonderful grand-children.Ms. Smith’s paintings are in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. She participated in art shows with artist from Holland and enjoyed membership in the Charleston Art Guild in South Carolina. She was an exhibiting member of Serenity Gallery in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi (pre-Katrina) and is currently an exhibiting member of the Eastern Shore Art Association in Fairhope, Alabama.
