Artist's Description

“The Mad Hatter”
2005
Medium: Oils / Airbrush / Ink /
3ft X 4ft on Canvas.

- This painting was painted between the months of September – December of 2005. The title of this painting comes from the character in this hit classic, “Alice in Wonderland.” I was trying to go along on the themes of that movie. The image in the center is made up of grapes, cherries, apples, a banana, a pair, nudes, a squid, a carrot, and two elephant heads. Together, this image makes a loose image of the Mad Hatter. The blobs on the border of this canvas, is made up of dried goo (gesso) and creates such a great texture. One some of these blobs have small drawings, such as the caterpillar modeled after the caterpillar in the movie.

This painting has received lots of feedback. I had it displayed in some of the local bars, and while it was up had many offers. At the time, I did not want to sell the piece, but its time to make room for new works, and sell the old. So it is now for sale.

This piece is an original. There are no prints or copies.

My asking price for this work is $ 6,300.00 But I will take offers. You can place an offer or request to see more pictures of this image, by contacting me via e-mail at jhaverty@student.umass.edu
