A raccoon spends the lazy summer afternoon in a forest tree and has no plans to flee. This tree limb is a favorite place for this raccoon to visit. She climbs the tree and looks in through my sunroom window to watch me as I paint at the easel or sit in the lounge chair and read. She no longer minds the click of the camera. She is a most pleasant companion but I think that she wishes that she had a camera of her own.
Photo taken in the ancient mountains of North Carolina, USA where raccoons are sometimes considered pests. Sometimes, but not always.

lovely capture Jean! His/her fur has such nice detail in it.
Thank you, Kylie T. I really enjoyed photographing this raccoon. She used to come to that tree to laze about on hot afternoons. The tree is just outside my window and so we ended up spending some time together.
Aaw love these guys!! I have never seen one, so maybe one day hopefully I might get a chance!
When you do see one, I hope you will enjoy it seeing the personality behind the eyes. They are curious and social animals and a whole lot of fun to watch.
Well, I’ve done it again! I chose to send a comment and failed to click on the reply button. Well, I guess it may be true that ‘better late than never’. :)
We don’t have any in Australia, but I always see them portrayed in movies/tv as naughty and up to mischief :)
Kylie, they are much like human two year olds. Always busy and always curious. They are playful and social animals. They are very smart. Unfortunately, they see opportunity when people are around and figure out where we put our leftovers. :)
Ruth, thank you so much for this special honor! I really appreciate it!
What a great shot ! Congrats on the feature !
Thank you very much!
Very very very cute!!! I love these little guys! Congratulations on your feature!!! :-)
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoy the raccoons. I love to watch animals any time I get the chance. :)
Aaah don’t worry about it! I used to do that as well lol! My friends are thinking of moving to Canada, so when I go visit hopefully I’ll get an opportunity to see one! :)
Good luck to them and to you! Remember they are normally nocturnal.
