Artist's Description

When I first look all is darkness under slowly growing moss, piles of yesterday’s leaves, fallen branches and shade from massive trees overhead. Every direction is green. I step silently along earth and stone and shadows. My eyes rest where a stem reaches to the singing sky and a strong sun pokes its nose past pine needges that edge the day with lace. The light becomes white and then dims in hazy blue hills that envelope air, earth and stars in dreams.
“Issaquah Spring” acrylic on Tyvek paper 24″×36″ by John Fish Dec. 2011. Painted as part of Seattle Green series from photos I took in the mountains around Eastern Seattle, Washinton.
