Artist's Description

There is a window in the back of my dreams that opens to a wide empty lost hill that slopes down to a field of mirrors. The front door to the house has no door. I touch the fragile frame and see only darkness inside. I reach to the sky to the window above to the star to the overhead porch light and feel the warmth in my eyes. I am afraid to go inside. So I turn and stare at the landscape below remembering forgetting wanting not knowing and knowing. I wait for a hand to reach to push to pull to hold. Yet I still don’t want it to touch me. So I simply wait.
“Higher Window” is acrylic on Tyvek paper 24″×36″ by John Fish 2011. From a photo of an old frame house on N. Edgemont St. in Los Angeles. The frame craftsman home has been vacant and boarded up since the photo was taken.
